GEMS Working Group, and
individual art projects
Creativity is integral to organizing for climate justice. Coherent visual images that amplify our message, whether we’re on the streets or on the internet , is critical. We always look to maximize opportunities for creativity, including music, theater and visual art in whatever we do.
WHO WE ARE: We do art individually and collectively. 1000 Grandmothers has made banners, hundreds of signs, a beautiful puppet, posters, digital art, and more ... We continue to participate in collaborative arts activism through wonderfully beautiful, community street paintings. We want to give a shout out to David Solnit, Arts/Organizer extraordinaire for his inspiration and support for the 1000 Grandmothers arts/activism. We extend our gratitude for his having increased organizers/artists/ capacity to find enjoyable, expressive ways to amplify our messages, around the world. Learn more about David Solnit |

GEMS is the name of our ongoing Art working group. We are activists in a variety of directions who come together sharing an interest in creating visual symbols that will bring attention to the messages of environmental healing that 1000 Grandmothers seeks to communicate in marches, rallies, and other actions.
